Director General of agriculture Dr. W.M. Weerakoon says that farmers have face problems for their paddy cultivation in the Yala season as there is a slight failure of monsoon rains. Some areas have not received adequate amount of rains. Kurunegala is the most affected district. The Agricultural Department therefore requests the farmers to use water sparingly in their cultivations. Mr. Weerakoon said however there is sufficient amount of rice in the country at present. Farmers have also cultivated about 1,000 hectares of maize in this season.
