Southern California has been struck by its strongest earthquake in two decades, causing damage and fires.
The epicentre of the 6.4 magnitude tremor was near the city of Ridge-crest, which is around 150 miles north-east of Los Angeles.
At least 20 people have sustained minor injuries, and the Police and city officials are assessing the damage to property.
A State of Emergency has been declared in the city, as aftershocks continue. However, the city’s main airport says flight operations are unaffected.
It is reported, it was fortunate the quake occurred far away from major population centres.
The quake hit on America’s Independence Day.
