The Science, Technology and Research Ministry has taken measures to implement a new programme called ‘Shilpa Sena’ to promote science and technology to enhance its contribution to the economic growth of the country, Non-Cabinet Science, Technology and Research Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe said.A special exhibition under the name of “Shilpa-sena 2019” will be held from today up to 21st of this month. The inaugural ceremony will be held today under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe. Many stalls of different fields will be exhibited at this exhibition.
Addressing the media conference yesterday, Minister Senasinghe further said that he is planning to seek private sector assistance to improve the country’s Science and Technology sector with the intention of increasing its contribution to more than 5 percent of Sri Lanka’s Gross Domestic Production.
The Minister stressed the importance of encouraging researchers to do more productive researches paying special attention on country’s requirements.
