The President declares open development projects at Buddhist temples in Polonnaruwa
President Maithripala Sirisena this morning declared open several development projects that were undertaken at Buddhist temples in Polonnaruwa. They were part of the ‘Reawakening Polonnaruwa’ development drive. At Vidyasara Pirivena in Palugasdamana, the President opened a 13.8 million rupee Dharma Shala and planted a sapling in the temple premises. Thereafter, he visited Poorvarama Veheragodella Temple at Thamankaduwa where he unveiled a two-story residential quarters for Monks. The President also opened newly-constructed facilities at Shakya Bimbarama Vihara at Lankapura and Gauthama Bodhirukkarama Vihara at Sewagama.
