President Maithripala Sirisena says that those who are against the death penalty for drug racketeers are opposing building a better country. The president said that he decided to impose death penalty on behalf of future generations as drugs are behind serious crimes. The President was addressing a religious function today at Bandarawela. The ceremony was held to handover the scroll of appointment to venerable Galgodagama Sobhitha Thera who was appointment as the chief Sanganayaka of Uva Province Amarapura Siri Saddammawansa Mahanikaya. The President recalled with gratitude, the services rendered by the Maha Sangaha to build a better country with spiritual development.
Meanwhile President Maithripala Sirisena vested with the students the new building of Haputhale Thotalagala Tamil School. Nine Million rupees has been spent to construct the building. The President pointed out that the government has taken measures to provide all facilities to schools in all areas of the country to ensure equal education rights for children. The President said that he would hold discussions with the education ministry and the provincial council to provide a solution for the graduate teachers issue in the estate sector.
