The Met Department forecasts the prevailing windy condition over the Island and the surrounding sea areas to cease during the next few days, with effect from tomorrow.
However, there is a high possibility for sudden increases in wind speeds – up to 60 to 65 kilometres per hour – over the Northern, North-central, North-western and Central provinces, and over the Trincomalee, Colombo and Gampaha districts, particularly in the afternoon and night.
Wind speeds are likely to enhance up to 40 to 50 kilometres per hour at times, elsewhere.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and North-western provinces.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Mannar, Jaffna and Anuradhapura districts.
