Minister Sajith Premadasa says, in the governance of the country, it is the general public that needs to be the main stakeholder of the country’s future.
He says, such a task can be taken forward only by an individual who has a high competency level, who is well versant in his profession, and who can direct the country towards rapid development through innovation.
To attain progress, prominence should be given to the country’s identity, by first granting relief to Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurships, and empowering the local entrepreneur. The Minister points out, for the development of the country, concepts cannot be created upon “whims and fancies”, but through a targeted programme based upon a specific national policy, which should be evaluated regularly, to determine as to whether the citizens are reaping the benefits of the implementation.
Speaking at a rally organised at the Wills Gardens Grounds in Badulla yesterday, the Minister said, he dedicates himself to consolidating national security, and underscored that national security is not militarisation, but the consolidation of political, economic and social security.
He emphasised, the middle-income-earner needs to be delivered from the pressure of taxes.
