Minister Vajira Abeywardena says the government is prepared to handle any disaster situation. He said that all divisional secretaries and field officers have been given necessary instructions through district secretaries. A programme has been implemented to rescue affected people and to provide relief services. People have been relocated from landslide prone areas. However, the Minister requested the public to vacate from such areas if they are still remaining at landslide risk areas. The Grama Niladari of the area should be informed of any disaster. Assistance of the Navy and the security authorities will be obtained to provide a relief to the affected people with the coordination of the Disaster Management Center. Divisional secretariats are providing cooked meals and dry rations for the displaced people.
