Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe said that an industrial zone will be established in the northern province in future. Several development projects will be developed under the medium and long term programme in the province. The first development programme in the Northern Province implemented under the Gamperaliya programme was commenced in Kilinochchi yesterday under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe. Grain processing centre constructed in Kilinochchi was also vested with the public.
The 2nd stage of the 1990 Suwa Seriya free ambulance service commenced in Jaffna under the patronage of the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe yesterday. A ceremony in this regard was held at the Jaffna urban council playground. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe said a great service is providing for the public through the Suwa Seriya free ambulance service giving more meaningful to the Sri Lanka’s free health service.
The Prime Minister appreciated the contribution given by of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government to Sri Lanka’s development move. The government’s policy is to give priority for the development in the health and education fields. Accordingly, he said the free health rights are being strengthened in the Northern province by providing the free ambulance service.
Joining at the ceremony through the video conferencing technology, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this service can be introduced as a gift given to Sri Lankan people by the Indian government to further enhance the friendship between two countries. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe has handed over 21 ambulances to the Northern Province. 300 ambulances are scheduled to be given to the province.
