Security Authority says, that the lifting of emergency status will not hinder any investigations

The Government has taken steps not to continue with the state of emergency introduced immediately after the Ester Sunday attacks. Police Media Spoken person Ruwan Gunasekara says, that the lifting of emergency status will not hinder any investigations been carried out with regard to the Ester Sunday terror attacks. He rejected news reports saying that, the ban on the Thawheed Jamath organization has been lifted. Furthermore he vehemently rejected that 200 persons who were arrested under the emergency law will be granted freedom. He pointed out that the persons under arrest have been held in custody under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, but not under the Emergency Law. Military spokesman Begedier Sumith athapathtu says that the lifting of emergency status will not hinder the security of the country. He told SLBC that the president, under the clause 12 of public security ordinance, has called in security forces to assist the police
