Sri Lanka aims to start oil production in 2023

Sri Lanka has enlisted French major Total and Norway’s Equinor to study the hydrocarbon potential of two blocks, saying it aims to start oil production in 2023.

Importing fuel cost Sri Lanka 4.15 billion US dollars last year.

Minister Kabir Hashim and representatives of the companies signed the agreement at the Ministry of Highways and Petroleum Resources Development.
