The foundation stone will be laid today for the country’s first Technological College of Education.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe will be the chief guest.
The objective of this endeavour is to bring about a generation of teachers who are well equipped with technical professional skills, thereby empowering technological education.
A land space of 16 acres in Naarangalla in Kuliyapitiya has been selected for the construction.
This will be the 20th National College of Education, which will be constructed upon investments of 2,500 million rupees from the Korean government and 500 million rupees from the Sri Lankan Government.
This institute will offer a 4 year academic degree in technology.
It is scheduled to be inaugurated in 2022.
