The Prime Minister says the government has increased vocational training facilities for the students to create a trained work force in the country

Constructions of the 1st technological education college have commenced with the aim of providing the schools with skilled teachers to enhance technological education. The college will be built at Kuliyapitiya, Narangolla area marking anther major step of the revolutionary development path of the education sector. Korean government is providing assistance for the constructions. Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe who was the chief gest on the occasion said that the countries 1st technological educational college is being built as an important step of modernizing education and economic sectors of the country. The college will provide teachers for the students who will be studying the last 02 years in the technical field under the government’s programme to provide 13 years of mandatory education. The government has increased vocational training facilities for the students to create a trained work force in the country as in countries such as japan. The Prime Minister pointed out that Sri Lanka’s biggest vocational training center was opened with Korean assistance at Orugodawatta recently. The Medical Faculty at the Wayamba University will be opened today. The Prime Minister said that the medical Faculty at Moratuwa University will be opened soon.

Taking part on the occasion Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that the teachers who undergo a training period of 4 years at the technological education college will be offered a degree. Koica organization of Korea has provided an aid 2,500 million rupees. The Ministry of Education will spend 500 million rupees.
